The 2015 International BIO Convention in Philadelphia brought together over 15,000 industry leaders from around the world interested in innovation, partnership, and progress in the biotechnology and healthcare industries. At the convention, WuXi had the opportunity to connect with many of our collaborative partners and speak with Philadelphia Mayor, Michael Nutter. We also hosted two panel sessions, one reception, and tours to our facilities in Philly. Enjoy some of the highlights here!
- Philadelphia Mayor, Michael Nutter, visited WuXi’s exhibition booth to express his support to WuXi. Our team had a great conversation with him.
- Dr. Richard Soll of WuXi, hosted a panel session “The Revitalization of Neuroscience R&D” with speakers Todd Sherer, CEO of The Michael J. Fox Foundation, Kees Been, CEO of Lysosomal Therapeutics, Steve Kanes, CMO of Sage Therapeutics, and Gerhard Koenig, CSO of Forum Pharmaceuticals, to discuss new trends in neuroscience R&D. “There has been fundamental advances in the understanding of disease biology, brain plasticity and neural networks,” said Dr. Richard Soll. “Genetics, biomarker development, and patient stratification will play increasingly important roles in successful drug development for the neuroscience.
- Dr. Hui Cai of WuXi hosted a panel discussion session “Demystifying Product Development and Market Access in China and Asia” with speakers Carl Firth, CEO of ASLAN Pharmaceuticals, Darren Ji, Global Head of Roche Partnering, Asia and Emerging Markets, John Choi, CBO of Hua Medicine, Josh Berlin, Executive Director of BioCentury, Edward Hu, CFO and CIO of WuXi AppTec and Qiang Lu, CSO of Gloria Pharmaceutical Company, to discuss China’s market potential, competitive landscape, effective approaches to navigate regulations for global registrations, and regulatory expectations of the CFDA.
- Richard Soll, Head of WuXi’s Boston Officer, joined MassBio and Massachusetts Life Science Center to welcome the BIO delegation from China to the Massachusetts Pavilion. We are really connecting the two worlds.
